Le Béjart Ballet Lausanne sera de retour le 30 juin 2025 à La Grange au Lac à Évian. La compagnie présentera des pièces iconiques de Maurice Béjart : “Serait-ce la mort ?“, “Adage pour deux“ et “Boléro“.

En ouverture de soirée, “Serait-ce la mort ?“, dans les mots de Maurice Béjart : "ce sont les quatre derniers “Lieder“ de Richard Strauss composés en Suisse et en partie à Lausanne. Le titre du ballet n’est que le dernier vers du dernier Lieder : “Is dies etwa der Tod ?“. Un homme sur le point de mourir se souvient de trois femmes qu’il a aimé durant sa vie. Mais une quatrième s’interpose toujours entre lui et les figures aimées. Il ne l’a jamais connue, qui est-elle ? "Serait-ce la mort ?“"

Deuxième pièce chorégraphique au programme de la soirée : “Adage pour deux“, un pas de deux emprunté à Malraux ou la Métamorphose des dieux créé en 1986 au Cirque Royal à Bruxelles, sur la musique de Ludwig van Beethoven.

En clôture de soirée, “Boléro“, un ballet créé en 1961 sur la partition envoûtante de Maurice Ravel. Le rôle central – la Mélodie – est tour à tour confié à une danseuse ou à un danseur, tandis que le Rythme est porté par un groupe de danseurs.

The Béjart Ballet Lausanne will return on June 30, 2025, to La Grange au Lac in Évian. The company will perform iconic pieces by Maurice Béjart: “Serait-ce la mort ?“, “Adage pour deux“ and “Boléro“.

The evening opens with “Serait-ce la mort ?“, in the words of Maurice Béjart: "These are the four last “Lieder” by Richard Strauss, composed in Switzerland, partly in Lausanne. The title of the ballet is taken from the last verse of the final Lieder: 'Is dies etwa der Tod?' A man on the verge of death recalls three women he loved during his life. But a fourth figure always comes between him and the loved ones. He never knew her—who is she? 'Serait-ce la mort ?'"

The second choreographic piece of the evening is “Adage pour deux“, a pas de deux taken from Malraux ou la Métamorphose des dieux, created in 1986 at the Cirque Royal in Brussels, set to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven.

The evening concludes with “Boléro“, a ballet created in 1961 to Maurice Ravel's mesmerizing score. The central role—the Melody—is alternately performed by a male or female dancer, while the Rhythm is embodied by a group of dancers.
